How to Eat Sunflower Seeds (the One-Handed Method)
Crack, work, spit, repeat: the technique that turns a bag of in-shell seeds into background noise on any drive.
In-shell sunflower seeds reward a little technique. Load two or three seeds into the side of your mouth, not the front, since your molars do the real work. Position one seed sideways between your back teeth, apply steady (not hard) pressure until the shell splits along its seam, then use your tongue to separate the kernel from the shell halves.
The one-handed part matters more than it sounds. A resealable, cup-holder-shaped bag (like Jumbo's) means you can keep one hand on the wheel, the console, or the glove while the other one feeds the habit. Spit the shells into a cup, a bottle, or, if you're a purist, the dugout dirt.
A bigger seed actually helps here. Jumbo's 24/64-inch seed gives your molars more surface to grip, so the shell splits cleaner and the kernel comes free in fewer tries than a smaller 16-18/64-inch seed. Less fumbling, more rhythm.
